Dr Jake Okechukwu Effoduh

Dr. Jake Okechukwu Effoduh has been an international lawyer for 14 years, providing legal services across countries and international institutions. His experience in legal advocacy cuts across different ranks of domestic, regional, and international legal systems. With expertise in technology law and human rights, Effoduh has informed the regulatory frameworks and policy formulation on artificial intelligence (AI) for supranational bodies at the United Nations and the African Union, as well as for domestic institutions in several countries, including Canada, the United States, and Nigeria. Effoduh’s research is at the intersection of international law, human rights, and AI, with some of his works published by the Harvard Human Rights Journal, Oxford University Press, Journal of Robotics, AI & Law, African Journal of Legal Studies, and The TWAIL Review. Notably, Effoduh served as Chief Counsel of Africa – Canada AI and Data Innovation Consortium (ACADIC), mobilizing the ethical use of AI and big data techniques to build governance strategies in Canada and 20 countries in Africa. He also served on the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Frontier Risks.
