Dr Ina Conradie

Dr Ina Conradie (PhD)’s work experience includes working in a range of development settings, and undertaking people-centred development. As a senior lecturer at the University of the Western Cape, she taught courses in community development, the theories of development, development history, social policy, and popular education and development. She has also supervised both Masters and PhD students in a range of development related fields. Dr Ina’s research interests include both theoretical foundations and practical applications of the Capability Approach as developed by Sen, the relationship between poverty and aspirations, and the formulation of social policy particularly to address poverty and inequality. She has published internationally on these topics. From 2008 to 2018 Dr Ina was the Coordinator of the South African- German Centre of Development Research.
