Prof. Lorna Holtman

Prof. Lorna Benita Holtman, holds a Ph.D. (Louisiana State University, USA), MPhil (UWC), BSc (UWC), HED (UNISA), B.Ed Hons (UNISA), BSc Hons (UWC). Lorna served as Director: Division for Postgraduate Studies at the University of the Western Cape (SA) (May 2009-January 2021); served as Chairperson (Senate Scholarships, Senate Higher Degrees) and a senior member of several academic/management committees and two terms (incomplete due to health reasons), Academic representative on the UWC Council. She has built up strategic relationships across the globe. Over the past three decades, Prof Holtman has played a significant role in cross-institutional collaboration (e.g., Erasmus Mundus, Erasmus+ scholarship programmes) and research. The Erasmus Mundus projects she coordinated involved over 13 projects in 8 years, with three significant consortia at the national level [co-led by Uppsala University, Sweden, and Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France (2 projects)] involving up to 20 universities in Europe and RSA. She has supervised/supervises postgraduate students (both Masters and Ph.D. projects, Postdoctoral fellows). Lorna with collaborators published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. She has more than 30 years of experience in the practice of monitoring and evaluation, project management, and external moderation of projects.
